Parenthood

Go in your kid’s room
Admire the mess, and leave it just as it is
Adding a big truck or two and
Some instruments with sharp edges
If they aren’t already out
Put on some music
Preferably something that asks you to jump or skip
Then find something to use as a blindfold
Preferably something dark and
Covered with dinosaurs
Fire trucks or
Fairies
Then proceed to obey the music and
Jump and skip all around the room and
Enjoy
You’ll find it hard not to smile
Even through the fear and pain
